Building Legal Knowledge in the Community

In March 2026, Principal Solicitor Eleanor Yates from South West Community Legal Centre (SWCLC) visited the Margaret River TAFE Campus to deliver a Community Legal Education (CLE) session to participants in the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP).

Understanding Legal Problems

The presentation introduced students to the role of community legal centres and the range of legal services available within the South West. A key focus of the session was helping participants understand what constitutes a legal problem, recognise when legal advice may be needed, and learn how to access support.

Empowering Through Education

Following the presentation, students participated in an interactive question-and-answer session, where they explored topics relevant to their own experiences and circumstances. The session encouraged greater awareness of legal rights and responsibilities while building confidence to seek assistance when needed.

SWCLC is committed to delivering accessible legal education that empowers individuals with the knowledge and confidence to recognise legal issues and access support within their community.
